Before discussing this topic, I think one should know the difference of "migrants", "refugees" and "asylum seekers". Here's the link that defines these three words.

UN refugee says that "refugee" is different from "migrant".

EU councile on refugees and exiles says that asylum seekers are different from refugees.

I think I'll stick to refugees because most of them were foreced to leave their country where wars destroyed their homelands. Start from last year, the number of refugees rose to tens of thousands and which were mostly from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately, many died in the midterranian sea. However, France and Germany are blaming eastern europe for not accepting the quotas of migrants. While Hungary responded as this refugee crisis is a German problem not a EU problem because Germany is the place they would like to go. France also critisized the fences set by Hungary and Bolgaria along their borders. Slovakia also only allowed Christians to enter their country. Italy, Spain and Greece stand at the forefront of these refugees so they also had complaints about the EU.

Among all these chaos, German Chanellor Angela Merkel said ""If Europe fails on the question of refugees, if this close link with universal civil rights is broken, then it won't be the Europe we wished for" It sounds like "I'm joking in the past, but shit things happen now. Let's try to deal with it."

One can see that Germany and France are in charge in the EU now. Other countries have to follow what they said. However, some actions may hurt the economy or society in other countries than they can bear. This is the downside of the EU that every country has to follow the same rule while there are striking differences between countries.

Another viewpoint is that there are so many refugees fleeing from Syria and Iraq which means ISIS has already controlled most of the cities. The refugees cannot see hopes so they rather take the risk of dying in the mediterranean sea. I think this issue won't end until the problem of ISIS is dealt. Therefore, EU should put more emphasis on combatting ISIS and deal with the refugees at the same time.

Some critics also blame the US one this issue too, but I think they only have some lame reasons. However, once again we understand the geographic location is also a strength too.

I can foresee some difficulties when coping with the refugees like where to live, the food and the fundings. The most serious problem is that the human smuggling or even the ISIS members disguised as refugees. It's the worst year for Europe for sure.
